Mr. Sam Das, a resident of Itwari, Nagpur, has taken his love for cricket to the next level by officially identifying as a cricket bat. Mr. Das, who spends most of his days playing cricket with local friends, says this decision was a natural one, as he “lives, breathes, and sleeps” cricket. His friends jokingly added that he sometimes even eats crickets.
When questioned about this unusual existential choice, Mr. Das explained that he had always been eager to bat in his local games. However, with so many others vying for the chance to bat, he only got to play 1-2 times a day. One day, while at bat, it struck him: if he became a bat, he could be part of the action all the time.
Following the regulations of the Indian Cricket Board, which mandates that all professional cricket bats must be stored in a cool, dry place, Mr. Das now lives in the cupboard of his parents’ house. He has set up a dehumidifier and 24/7 air conditioning to ensure he doesn’t warp.
On the cricket front, Mr. Das hopes that one day he can be used by the Indian national cricket team as “equipment’.
As for his future plans, Mr. Das (now called ‘Bat Das’) dreams of marrying a nice lady who will identify as a cricket ball, and they can adopt some stumps, believing that will complete his innings.
Hilarious.
We have a student in NZ who has identified as a cat… and everyone has to accept this crazy situation!
